Under normal conditions, Phosphodiesterase – PDE5 destroys cGMP. How to take Cialis:

Cialis is available in the form of tablets. Various doses of Cialis are available like 5mg, 10mg and 20 mg. Cialis must be taken once a day. Once taken, it is effective for about 36 hours. Cialis is preferred over Viagra as it has a longer half life of about 17.50 hours as compared to 4.0 to 5.0 hours in the case of Viagra. Most doctors recommend that you start using Cialis in the dose of 10 mg to begin with. Thereafter it can be increased gradually to 20 mg or decreased to 5 mg based on your response to the dosage. You must take a tablet atleast 30 minutes to an hour prior to sexual activity. You must take Cialis orally with a glass of water. You can take Cialis either on an empty stomach or after meals.

Cialis is also used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension. For treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension, doctors usually prescribe 20 mg of Cialis twice a day.

Side effects of Cialis:

If you are suffering from high blood pressure, ischaemic heart disease, diabetes etc. you must inform your doctor about the same. Cialis interacts with certain medications commonly used in the treatment of high blood pressure and angina. Cialis can cause a transient decrease in blood pressure following intake. Hence you must not consume any compound or drug containing organic nitrates like amyl nitrate. This can increase your chances of suffering from severe hypotension. If you must take amyl nitrate, make sure you take it after a gap of 48 hours following consumption of Cialis. This gap is to ensure that all tadalafil is excreted from your body. Similarly if you are taking any nitrate compound like glyceryl trinitrate for angina, you must maintain the necessary gap between the nitrate compound and Cialis. In case you do experience angina during the time gap, you must seek immediate medical attention. You must also inform the doctor concerned about the time interval since your last dose of Cialis.
